“I remember watching the riots on the ninth of August and internment and stuff like that. But I never, you know, I, I never partaken in any sort of rioting, or any sort of riotous behaviour or anything like that. And mum and dad were always very strict in regards of who I was with and what I was doing, and they’d try and sit me down and say, look, you know, these things are going on, you know, you know, I would say, well, we got stopped today, and we got a better harassment from the UDR. And then Dad would sort of try and rationale it with me and say, Well, the reason why they’re stopping so much more now is because they’ve been attacked, and this, you know, there’s two sides of the coin. So I think mum and dad gave me quite a sorta sort of weighed view of, you know, just you know, don’t be, don’t be influenced by people who are so political, you know, so, like, have like, bad ideas of things to do and all, you know.”
